Oklahoma Plantings
Since 2003, Color Oklahoma
– Sow Some Wild Seeds has been a leader in beautifying
Oklahoma’s roadsides.
Thousands of native wildflowers bloom across the
state thanks to Oklahomans who buy the Color Oklahoma
state license tag, buy Color Oklahoma t-shirts and tote
bags, and have raised money to qualify for our matching
grants.
Our largest
contributor has been the Public Service Company of
Oklahoma which for three years has enabled us to add
wildflowers on highway rights-of-way near Lawton, Oologah,
Tulsa and Bartlesville.
In 2003 wildflower seeds
were sown along I-40 near Seminole and Henryetta.
In 2004 seeds were sown along the Creek Turnpike in
south Tulsa, and Interstate-40 at Elk City, Clinton and
near Erick.
In 2005, wildflowers seeds
were sown in mid-town Tulsa, near Bartlesville and along
Interstate 40 at Sallisaw, the state Information Center
and the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line.
In
2006, Color Oklahoma began offering matching grants to
individuals and groups throughout the state.
